Project Safe Place provides young people a place to go when they need help fast. Safe Places are identified by the distinctive yellow and black sign. In Winston Salem, Project Safe Place is administered by Host Homes.
It is the objective of Safe Place to provide a network of locations, whose staffs have been specially trained, to provide open arms and safe harbor for young people with no other place to turn. Our local Safe Place program includes over 220 sites and has helped over 250 young people since it started in 1997.
The program includes annual site monitoring, and staff orientation and training.
Safe Place Locations Please see Safe Place Sites for a complete list of locations. The Winston Salem Urban League office in downtown Winston Salem is now a Safe Place location.
