| The Teen Council consists of students from all high schools in Winston Salem and Forsyth County. The Council develops leadership and responsibility through training, group interaction and service to the community.
Members of the Teen Council volunteer to serve on the Council, are recommended by school counselors or invited by current members of the Council. They are trained as peer counselors to their fellow students and perform other service projects for the benefit of their community.
The Council generally has one business meeting a month and at least one service activity a month. This year's officers are Walter Farabee, Reynolds High School, President; Linwaun Fulton, Parkland High School, Vice President; Allie Lara, West Forsyth High School, Secretary; and Heather Tuttle, Glenn High School, Historian. Walter and Linwaun serve as Advisory Board Members. Allie Lara and Ashley Lewis represented Host Homes at the this year's National Youth Summit in Cleveland, OH (see pictures).
The Teen Council Food Drive on July 31 was a Great Success! Teen Council members collected over 200 bags of groceries to benefit families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The staff of the Ronald McDonald House expressed their appreciation for the teens' hard work and were amazed by the amount of items collected. A special thanks to Teen Council members, Ronald McDonald House staff, and generous members of our community for making this a terrific experience for all.
For more information on the Teen Council, contact the Host Homes office or your high school counselor.
